Did Obama Really Give Away 7 Oil Rich Alaskan Islands to Russia?

It’s no secret that I don’t like the illegitimate president Obama, and wish this atrocity could be laid solely at his feet but that is not the case. You have to go back to 1990, when the unconstitutional groundwork for the natural resource giveaway was first hatched. That’s right, republican president and New World Order lover, George H.W. Bush is where the story seems to begin.

This story first broke in 2000 by David M. Bresnahan for World Net Daily.com. Click here to read it:     I do not endorse the Zionist Elite statement at the top of the page!

On June 1, 1990, Secretary of State James Baker signed a secret executive agreement with Eduard Shevardnadze, the former U.S.S.R. foreign minister. It specified that even though the treaty had not been ratified, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. agreed to abide by the terms of the treaty beginning June 15, 1990. The Senate ratified the U.S.-U.S.S.R. Maritime Boundary Treaty in 1991, which was then signed by President George Bush.

The Alaska House & Senate were never consulted on the land grab and violation of states rights, so they teamed with then Governor, Walter J. Hickel to lobby President Bill Clinton to undo the treaty but were not successful. Alaska state Rep. John B. Coghill, R-Dist. 32. sponsored Alaska H.J.R. 27, a resolution that was passed in the state’s House and Senate then enacted by Alaska Gov. John Knowles in 1999. It was intended to “require the federal government to begin a new dialogue with Russia over the disputed maritime borders, insuring that Alaska is sitting at the negotiating table, as well as prevent the impending giveaway of eight Alaskan islands,” said Coghill. (Source David Bresnahan) 2000 WND.

I searched the US State Department website looking for information pertaining to the land give-away but found nothing. Did Obama finalize the deal? Maybe, but George H.W. Bush singed it over two decades ago. The Unites States claims to want energy independence, yet we continue to import half of our oil from middle eastern nations that are our sworn enemies and then kill the Keystone Pipeline deal with Canada. Not to be forgotten is the huge economic impact of the fishing industry in this Alaskan area.

If someone can tell me why our government is out to destroy America, I would like to know.

these kind of things are done politically, and the average person never hears about it.like ignoring, the housing scam and the mexican border, more examples of what bush did or didn’t do to help create the problems we have.all of them do the same things pressured by special interest groups for their gain and potential votes.

I agree, both parties are corrupt and have a track record for proving so. The people get stuck holding the bag.

You are partially right on this, but the actual treaty ratified by the Senate in 1991, did not include these islands. There were not part of the agreement. It is just this State Dept. redrawing the lines that were previously agreed to that gives the islands to Russia. This treaty has also not been ratified by the Russian Duma. The islands were not part of the original Alaska buy from Russia but were discovered and claimed by the United States. They have been considered part of Alaska since that time.
    See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USSR%E2%80%93USA_Maritime_Boundary_Agreement
And this:May 1881 US explorers approached Jeannette Island and Henrietta Island and claimed them for the United States. According to some US individuals, including the group State Department Watch, eight Arctic islands currently controlled by Russia, including Wrangel Island, are claimed by the United States. However, according to the United States Department of State no such claim exists. The USSR/USA Maritime Boundary Treaty, which has yet to be approved by the Russian Duma, does not address the status of these islands nor the maritime boundaries associated with them. From the Borg Conspiracy http://primeswormhole.blogspot.com/
Also this: This is the executive agreement between Secretary of State James A. Baker III and Soviet
Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze signed on June 1, 1990, to take effect on June 15, 1990.
It purported to execute all of the terms of the “Agreement” (proposed treaty signed on the same
date) “pending the entry into force of that Agreement”. [See the Proposed Treaty.] Being an
executive agreement, it can be rescinded at any time by either party unilaterally. It is currently
being enforced by the State Department on various federal agencies.

This executive agreement was hidden from the public and Congress for nearly two years
after it was signed in June 1990. It was not disclosed in any public news release when it was
signed in June 1990. It was not mentioned in the President George Bush’s transmittal of the
proposed treaty Agreement to the Senate. It was not mentioned in any testimony at the Senate
hearing on the proposed treaty Agreement by the State Department in June 1991. It was not
mentioned in the Committee Report on that hearing. It was not mentioned in the full Senate
    debate in September 1991.http://www.statedepartmentwatch.org/1990ExecAgreement.htm

Are you totally confused yet? It seems that this all started under Bush Sr. but the islands were not part of that agreement. They have been added without any discussion or debate, by the Obama administration’s State Dept. with the approval of Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama!

    • CommanderKoolAid on February 19, 2012 at 9:59 AM

Confusing , YES!! but the following excerpt from Joe Miller WND reads like this:The imperiled Arctic Ocean islands include Wrangell, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta. Wrangell became American in 1881 with the landing of the U.S. Revenue Marine ship Thomas Corwin. The landing party included the famed naturalist John Muir. It is 3,000 square miles in size.

Northwest of Wrangell are the DeLong Islands, named for George Washington DeLong, the captain of USS Jeannette. Also in 1881, he discovered and claimed these three islands for the United States. He named them for the voyage co-sponsor, New York City newspaper publisher James Gordon Bennett. The ship’s crew received a hero’s welcome back in Washington, and Congress awarded them gold medals.

In the Bering Sea at the far west end of the Aleutian chain are Copper Island, Sea Lion Rock and Sea Otter Rock. They were ceded to the U.S. in Seward’s 1867 treaty with Russia.

These in fact do seem to be the same islands. If you have more info. I would love to see it. At any rate: I know Obama could stop this and wish he would. I am not surprised that he will not but it seems this giveaway was orchestrated by Papa Bush and the reports floating around seem to let him off the hook which to me is unacceptable.

From what I can find out so far, it almost seems as if the Obama State Dept. just threw them in to sweeten the deal. As far as I have been able to find, until now they weren’t even considered. Until the Obama administration, it seems most everyone considered them part of the U.S.
What really bothers me is that if they can do this with these islands, what else can they just decide is no longer part of the U.S. and give away?
And if both Rep. and Dem. have been doing this kind of thing, what can we do to change things so that it doesn’t happen again and they can be held accountable?

        • CommanderKoolAid on February 19, 2012 at 2:32 PM

It’s amazing to me. I am not a constitutional atty. but it sure seems that Alaska’s states rights were violated and with no compensation. Where does it end is a great question. With this logic, they could give away Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. And why is congress not getting involved to stop this? Or the courts?

          • LoboSolo on February 20, 2012 at 10:07 AM

The difference being that Alaska was originally all Federal property … in fact, most of it still is. These lands were not turned over to Alaska at statehood. Thus Alaska has no say. That’s why the feds control Anwar but not the oilfields in Texas. This problem of the feds controlling large swaths of land besets several western states as well.

          • CommanderKoolAid on February 20, 2012 at 10:37 AM

I agree in part, but if Alaska has been burdened with using state funds for any upkeep of these islands w/o federal reimbursement that may be their legal grounds? Also, there may be an economic impact that gives Alaska some standing legally. I am not a lawyer but these very well may be plausible arguments on behalf of Alaska.

          • LoboSolo on February 21, 2012 at 6:36 PM

@ CommanderKookAid … AFAIK, the state has had nothing to do with these islands as long as no one is living on them. I know that on most of the Aleutian Islands (the uninhabited ones) that the Coast Guard and Park Service are in charge.

          • CommanderKoolAid on February 21, 2012 at 6:40 PM

I think the bigger concern here is what natural resources are being lost to Russia? It seems like a great deal! Both on the land and the water around them!

  4. Grumpy on February 19, 2012 at 9:13 AM

Thanks for the information- I’m still trying to figure out what we got in exchange-

I hear ya Grumpy, believe me I don’t want to give Obama a free pass but I am concerned that only part of the story is being told. While I am a conservative it doesn’t make it an easier pill to swallow if we as Americans are getting screwed by a republican. That’s why I wrote this angle of the story. America first regardless of which party holds office.

I am very interested in what happens to these islands. I have been
sickened to learn that the Bush admin was involved in this, but I’ve been sickened by a lot I’ve learned lately.
I would like to know that actual status of this give away…is it
active now? Is it being pushed forward by Obama?

    • CommanderKoolAid on February 19, 2012 at 11:05 AM

the status appears to be moving forward and pretty much in secret (not much of a secret anymore though) I went to State Dept. website can’t find nothing and for good reason, they know this is awful, stupid and strategically dangerous. Why are they selling this great country down the river? That’s what I want to know.

      • Eunice on February 19, 2012 at 11:09 AM

I don’t know…it breaks my heart. I feel so helpless.
This Alaskan Island thing has really infuriated me..
I’m trying to do deep research, but don’t really know how, or where to go.
        You say it’s active now?
It’s like this admin truly wants to destroy us. And I have to admit, the downward spiral started with the original Bush…
As Americans, we’ve been led down the primose path by our
        so called leaders.

        • CommanderKoolAid on February 19, 2012 at 11:36 AM

Like you, I am trying to find out more about this but it is so behind the scenes it’s hard to find data. Keep doing what your doing, read. dig and share with your fellow like-minded friends & family. I feel helpless at times too but it is not hopeless, Americans will find away to take this country back. We may have to revisit 1776? Americans are being pushed into a corner by no fault of their own. Well except for voting in the same old fools time after time.

          • Grumpy on February 19, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Don’t think we have to revisit 1776. What we have to do is break the stranglehold the 2 parties have on government..

They present a good stage show for the public. so does professional wrestling. Behind the scenes and out of the public eye there seems to be a lot of collusion going on- 21 is a prime example.

Signed by Bush–never ratified because voters would go nuts if it was make public–now Obama’s enacting it via regulation instead of legislation.

          • CommanderKoolAid on February 19, 2012 at 1:06 PM

I hope we don’t have to revisit 1776 but who knows what we will have to do to take our country back. The two party’s are solidified in keeping down a third party.
            Time will tell however.

          • patricia pledger on February 19, 2012 at 7:22 PM

I am afraid what is really going to have to change, is the states letting the Fed. government get away with anything they want. This has been going on for a long time and it is just getting worse. It is nice to see the states start standing up, but the Supreme Court has to weigh in and affirm their rights. If it doesn’t do so, there will be no stopping the feds. without some extreme effort that we really don’t want. Because if it comes to that we lose anyway. Once broken it may never get fixed. I agree with grumpy that it is time that we quit relying on the two party system, we have to find others who are willing to take a stand. Grumpy has an excellent post up that has a lot of possibilities and that may be an option.

We bought Alaska from the Russians for hard cold cash, $7 million. That’s when $7 million was a lot of money. The purchase was called Seward’s Folly. If the Federals AND Alaska want to negotiate the resale of part of that land, that is up to Alaska first to agree and then the FEDs next. Do you think it would be alright if the Federal Gov. were to negotiate the give away of a significant part of your state – without your states consent? No, Really! I knew you would say that. Maybe we should give away part of New York, Minnesota, Maine, Montana, North Dakota or Michigan, without their permission. Remember “54-40 or Fight”. the dispute over the U.S. northern border? Who do these weirdo’s in Washington think they are? Kings of the Hill? And how dumb are we the people going to continue to be? and for how long are we going to continue to sit in front of the Adult Pacifier every night? It is time for you and I to decide to do something significant with the days we have left. While we watch TV, the leftist are diligently working most evenings to end the USA as we know it. WE need to get off the couch and learn to say. No. Just like the apes in “Planet of the Apes”. Hmmm, Maybe they were smarter than we are.

No is the strongest word in the English language. We need to use it more often. No means No, it means it now and never means maybe. How good is your No?

    • CommanderKoolAid on February 21, 2012 at 6:43 PM

I agree totally. This is a huge states rights violation. A huge loss of resources with ZERO, ZILCH, NADA for compensation.
Of course, I am against giving any part of America away at any price! It’s an outrage…
